Alyana woke aching in places that had never hurt before. Frowning, she rolled onto her side, a smile spreading over her face. Xander had made love to her last night. Twice. And it had been more wonderful and beautiful than anything she had dreamed of or imagined. He had made her feel loved, cherished, and she couldn’t wait to do it again. She had clung to him last night, loving his weight, the feel of his skin against her own, his mouth ravaging hers.

Feeling a surge of desire, she studied the man who had shown her, in every way imaginable, what it meant to be a woman. He slept on his back, one arm across his chest. He was so incredibly handsome. She loved everything about him. She longed to touch him but hesitated, not wanting to wake him.

And then she frowned. Would he be angry this morning? She’d had to beg him to make love to her, had tempted him in the only way she knew how. Would he be sorry? Would he feel anger? Guilt? Regret? Why didn’t she?

She started when he looked up at her.

“No, I’m not angry or sorry,” he said, stroking her cheek. “But I do feel guilty as hell.”

“Why should you feel guilty for taking what I offered?”

“I can’t help it.” He rolled onto his side to face her. “I’ll never be sorry, love. But I’ve taken something precious that wasn’t mine to take.”

“You did not take it,” she reminded him. “I gave it to you freely.”

He smiled wryly. “Best gift I ever received,” he murmured, and drawing her into his arms, he kissed her tenderly. “I love you, Princess Alyana. No matter what happens in the future, never forget that.”

His words melted her heart and sealed her his forever.
